STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty-Six
AN ACT authorizing the secretary of state to conduct random audits of the citizenship qualification of registered voters.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Section; Random Citizenship Audits. Amend RSA 654 by inserting after section 45 the following new section:
654:45-a Random Citizenship Audits.
I. The secretary of state may conduct random audits of the citizenship qualifications of registered voters and, for this purpose, may use any and all available governmental and private databases to confirm the citizenship of voters who submitted a qualified voter affidavit as proof of citizenship.
II. Where the citizenship of a voter is confirmed through audit, such confirmation shall be noted in the statewide voter registration database, and that voter shall not be subject to further audit of his or her citizenship.
III. If the audits reveal information of any potential non-citizens on the checklist, such information shall be submitted to the attorney general for further review and appropriate action.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
